I'm a member of the Jack Benny Facebook group and apparently they have their own set of Jack Benny programs with 749 episodes. Apparently it was on Archive.org at one point but they got a cease-and-desist letter from Radio Spirits and pulled it down. By chance has anyone compared their set to our Certified set from 2017?

Here's part of their description: "I'm pretty confident most folks have never heard these before, because they haven't been widely available online. I collaborated on creating these files a few years ago-- a friend who had excellent source copies of the entire series did me the honor of letting me collaborate with him in creating a new set of mp3s to replace all the old copies floating around. ... Also, unlike the previously circulating mp3s, the source material for the shows in this new collection was predominantly the original NBC transcription discs and the CBS master tapes. This means that not only is the sound quality far better, but also that many, many shows here are in more complete form than were previously available, replacing dozens of shows previously only available in versions heavily edited for the AFRS or for commercial purposes... There are also a number of shows from the late 1930s avaialble in East Coast and West Coast versions, which is especially a treat in the case of a Fred Allen guest show from 1938... No noise reduction was applied; in most cases, the recordings are totally pristine anyway."

Many of these episodes are out
BUT
I have been transferring reels of Suspense from that era and finding AFRS recordings that fell out of circulation, parts of pairs of East and West broadcasts, airchecks, and other things
AND in the NY run from 1959-1962 found some airchecks with local commercials, complete programs where only edited recordings were circulating before
So any time you can get reels from this era, there can often be some good finds!
You can only find out but transferring them.
If you need assistance transferring, I can help!
Can you send me the Suspense list?

Ok, I'm going to get these Jungle Jim OTR shows straightened out eventually.

I went thru and created folders for each of the series.  Here they are copied pasted here.  I am still not sure what to do about the ones I have that don't fall within these series.  I can understand mis-numbering or mis-dating but these I just don't know. I have now complete from 1 to 358 then a gap from 359-363 and 365-429.  There were quite a few badly labeled files I had that took a lot of time to either eliminate or find and fix the names for.   if anyone has access to these missing files please let me know.   I saw that there was a post for corrected dates.  I am working towards that series.

Subject: [OldTimeRadioResearchers] Jungle Jim missing shows

I have been going thru my JJ shows and cleaning it up, culling dupes and trying to find the best bit rate copies I have.

I'm curious; why is the url of many of the individual shows so long?

A quick way to get to listen to a good variety of shows is via the otrr library site (http://www.otrrlibrary.org/??). Start there. You can sample a lot of different shows to see what you like best.??
I think downloading from the site is generally one at a time.. not sure if you can download a whole folder or not from there. Others in the group will know.??
There's also the OTRR home page at archive.org (https://archive.org/details/OTRR_Home_Page) and you can download series and single episodes from there.?? There's should be plenty to keep you in OTR heaven for a very long time!
Depending on what your preferences are, ie: detective, news, soap operas, science fiction, etc... members of the group can make suggestions of shows they think you'd most enjoy.
Happy Listening,

I am actually looking for anything I can get my hands on.?? We had some
that my son got his hands on and he listened to them to death and then his
brother in law got hold of what was left and because my son and
daughter-in-law loved them he destroyed them.?? Anything that made his
sister happy he tried to destroy.?? They have since moved and we are now
trying to rebuild our library.
