Welcome!
Welcome to the new Old Time Radio Researchers group forum on groups.io! We'll decide if this platform will meet our needs for the foreseeable future. Many files have been moved over from the old Yahoo Groups site.

Thank you!

Thank you everyone for your willingness to keep this group alive. I know that the OTRR group has been a lot of fun for me, and I would really like to see it continue to thrive.

What About Our Old Data from Yahoo?
There is a lot of justified concern about losing the resources we have at our Yahoo Groups - especially our membership database with contact information - as Yahoo begins deleting that in a couple months. Not to worry, Paul Kornman has been able to download all that information so we will be able to save it and host it ourselves on a site that we control. While old files were copied over to this new groups.io before I knew about Paul's work, just because other uploaded content from Yahoo is not re-uploaded on groups.io does not mean the OTRR does not have access to it anymore.

I understand that there is a way of transferring membership details from Yahoo to IO. CJB

Re: What About Our Old Data from Yahoo?
IO has a transition program but it costs $120 (fee was instituted earlier this year) so Paul Kornman wrote his own program to download most of the information. When I first googled it I didn't see the fee.

BTW - please can the mods remove the moderation of post. Cheers - CJB

Re: What About Our Old Data from Yahoo?
The moderation is automatic so I need to remember to uncheck it when people join. I have to go back and update each person's membership, it will take some time, sorry.

Re: What About Our Old Data from Yahoo?
I think I made the correct adjustments, everyone should be able to post.

In Search of two Father Knows Best episodes
Working on a set of Father Knows Best. Our copy of (078) 1951-04-19 Anniversary Secret has a lot of digital skips and drop-outs , especially around the 6:30 - 10:30 point. Our copy of (079) Aunt Martha Visits also has several skips and drop-outs. Anyone have better ones to send along?

American Family Robinson
Do we have any member volunteers interested in sorting out some issues with the American Family Robinson episodes on our library? I got a note from a listener who said it was actually two distinct series but our episodes are all numbered as if they were one series even though they're pulled from two different ones. Sounds like a fun mystery to unravel but I don't have time for it. If you want to look into it I'd be glad to forward you the email to get a better idea of the problems this gentleman found.

Re: In Search of two Father Knows Best episodes
Kevin,
The two episodes you attached are greatly improved, thanks for sending those along! Ryan |

Re: American Family Robinson
Solved (the search for a sleuth, not the sorting out of episodes)! Thanks Robert for accepting the challenge. Don't know anything about this series myself, will have to take a listen. Ryan |

OTR Digest scans and Mystery Is My Hobby
Two new resources have been added to our sites: Thanks to the scanning efforts of Martin Grams and John Nicholson we've added issues 115-129 and 131-143 of Bob Burchett's defunct Old Time Radio Digest to our main site (https://otrr.org/Pages/Publications/magz_otr_digest.htm) and our collection of Mystery is My Hobby (not a Moderated set) has been made live in our library under "M" (http://www.otrrlibrary.org/m.html).

Grams' The Big Show Review
Did anyone get a copy of Martin Grams' new book about Tallulah Bankhead and the Big Show who's interested in doing a book review for the Old Radio Times? I have my copy on my night stand but can't say that I'll get through it any time soon. I wouldn't mind getting the winter issue out just before Christmas as an idea of the timeline you'd be on.
