Casebook of Gregory Hood

Thanks! That all looks like information I didn't already have. I don't think those papers were on newspapers.com - or at least I don't remember seeing any results from them.

I was able to piece together some info about Gregory Hood and build a tentative log based on the initial info from Jerry H that it was broadcast on Mondays.  What I don't know is the final broadcast dates for each season.  I just built the log till the end of 1950.

Thanks, John. I do have that one, but yours is a different size than the versions I have, so it could be from a different source. I'll compare it to the ones I have. Thanks!

I started off with the original Otter log, but in the last couple of yrs, it has diverge significantly since Jim last updated it (I don't think anyone has updated it since Jim, at least officially within the group).  Not everything mind you, if there are errors in some series, I'm sure they may still exist, depending on the individual logs talking about.  The database itself isn't usable with Otter (different database drivers, and age of Otter's database I'm sure), so I run it in my own program.  I also include more NTR as well, so it did start off as the Otter db, but it's not the same.

Evan,

I've been able to discover most of the titles for the first 52 episodes (the run sponsored by Petri Wines, before it went off the air the first time). After that, yeah, it becomes a lot more spotty. I have marked all the ones I have summaries for, though. Those are in a separate document.

The old Otter log - if that was what you imported it from - had a lot things that don't seem correct. It also listed the LA/East coast dates separately - which makes sense - but greatly increases the episode count. I think there should be no more than 177 episodes, and possibly five or so fewer than that.

I've begun work on a maintained set of The Casebook of Gregory Hood. The log I've assembled is attached. We have nice copies of most of the known episodes - and even some episodes that aren't listed as existing by Goldin or Jerry Haendiges. That said, there could be better copies or additional episodes out there, and some of the episodes are partial episodes only. Also, one episode listed by Goldin (9/30/1946, but noted as likely an incorrect date; it most likely is a 1948 or 1949 episode - the death of Ken Froelich) has not been found.

Can anyone help fill in any gaps in the log I've put together, and/or have better copies of any of the episodes? Here's what I have:
  • Three Silver Pesos (#1, 6/3/1946) - wav, flac
  • The Black Museum (#2, 6/10/1946) - wav, flac
  • The Murder of Gregory Hood (#3, 6/17/1946) - wav, flac
  • The Adventure of the Beeswax Candle (#4, 6/24/1946) - wav, flac
  • Murder in Celluloid (#5, 7/1/1946) - wav, flac
  • The Derringer Society (#6, 7/8/1946) - wav, flac
  • South of the Border (#7, 7/15/1946) - wav, flac
  • The Red Capsule (#8, 7/22/1946) - wav, flac
  • The Forgetful Murderer (#9, 7/29/1946) - wav, flac
  • The Double Diamond (#10, 8/5/1946) - wav, flac
  • The Mad Dancer (#12, 8/19/1946) - last 20 minutes only - flac, fair to poor quality
  • Gregory Hood, Suspect (#18, 9/30/1946) - wav, flac
  • The Adventure of the Sad Clown (#19, 10/7/1946) - wav, flac
  • The Eloquent Corpse (#20, 10/14/1946) - flac
  • The White Masters (#26, 11/25/1946) - flac
  • Fifth Avenue (#49, 5/5/1947) - wav, flac
  • Title unknown [Death of Bill Lattimore] (1948 or 1949) - first 18 minutes only - flac, fair quality
  • The Carnival of Death (~#131/first ABC episode, 10/15/1949) - flac
  • Case of the Overpraised Season (~#172, 8/10/1950) - last half only - mp3
Note: Delphene/Daphne Boggs/Bloggs is the same episode as "Gregory Hood, Suspect" (#18, 9/30/1946). For some reason, it is widely listed and available as a separate episode.
