Brian,

I had #14 - Shakespeare in Harlem and it sounded fine, no issues.

Brian,

From my notes it had a pretty big audio glitch at about 20:13 but yes, other than that, it was pretty good.

Brian Kavanaugh

Corey, of those that you have, these are the ones with the most issues: I think Vesey is probably the worst because of issues with the file.

Denmark Vesey - lots of pops and clicks, and a fair amount of audio glitches
Peace Mediator- a lot of scratchiness, missing dialog around 6:21
Stackalee - a fair amount of scratchiness/background noise, though pretty listenable
Senator Bruce - a fair amount of background noise, especially at the start

Any of them would be great, especially since they are all 32-40 kbps. It would be a significant quality upgrade regardless.

Brian,

I'm not sure you mean by big glitch. I relistened to the timeframe you talked about. and all I heard was a couple of slight scratch noises but it wasn't like a skip or anything.

Brian

I have most of the sound upgrade shows at 128 KBPS.

There are a few at 32 KBPS but not many.

I remember getting most from RHAC and Barrett Benson years and years ago.

I still have the open-reels in storage.

I am going through your list now.

Larry

Kudos to everyone working on Destination Freedom!

Questiin: Did the W.E.B. Dubois episode ever turn up?

I wrote about the series a few years ago (Mar.20 2018, by coincidence) and was sad to see that one was missing... (As well as the patriotic-white-folks era episode about Anna Zenger.)

https://jheroes.com/real-life-reporters/destination-freedom/

My focus is on radio stories about journalists, and I found several fine stories to mention from Destination Freedom. Feel free to look at that essay of mine (and linked blog posts) and tell me if I've missed any other newsies.

But, again, thanks for making more and better-quality episodes -- and stories about them -- available to the world!

The W.E.B. Du Bois episode is still lost. I do have, however, the Anna Zenger episode.

Jerry H has a number of the shows I am missing.  I have 2 he does not.  I am arranging for a trade/buy to get the rest.  Skipping the ones he does not have, I will acquire 8, 24-26, 36, 40, 62, 64, 68, 74, 79, 95 and from the patriotic format 6,7,9,11,14,17,20,28,30,31,32,35-37

I have a copy of 42, 86 which he does not.
