flac question

Ryan Ellett

My preferred listening experience is to stream shows from my pCloud account to my iPhone. However, it doesn't seem to work with programs in .flac format; I've read that Apple does not play well with .flac and that it sounds like I need to download a 3rd party converter to my phone. Will I be able to stream from pCloud with such a converter app or will I need to download shows individually and play them through such an app? (or convert them to mp3, re-upload them to pCloud, and stream?)

I’ve had the same issue with pcloud and my iPhone, but oddly enough, Dropbox works fine.

I do generally download files to an external hard drive and then covert them to WAV to put on my phone, but that’s because I’m an obsessive collector.

Interesting, because according to this blog post, it supposedly has worked for flac on both iPhone and Android since 2014. Are you trying to play it from the pCloud app on your phone, or from a web page?

Yes, it's the app. I was hoping that link would tell me what I was doing wrong. It's interesting because the app will "play" - as in, the play time advances like it's streaming the show but there's no sound, unlike if the file is mp3 or wav. I'l Google around a bit more.

Looks like Flacbox should be able to do so, too (from a variety of services):  Flacbox: Hi-Res Music Player on the App Store (apple.com)
