Looking through the list of Certified and Maintained sets I don't see any indication that either Life of Riley or Life With Luigi have ever been put out by the OTRR. Does this sound right? Those are both very popular series with a manageable number of episodes. I'm surprised they haven't been compiled. Does anyone remember doing any initial work toward either set? They might need to go on out to-do list down the road.

I don't recall getting those from any of the OTRR groups, but did get them somewhere from various distros over the years, so I may have them on CD. However, my CDs are pretty elderly and many no longer spin up.  I'd love for us to put those on the to do list, especially Life with Luigi.

Henry and Kathy,
I agree, Life With Luigi would be a popular series to work on. Maybe one place to start would be comparing the shows you have with what is currently in the OTRR library (otrrlibrary.org). I have a few shows from other sources but that is often where I start when pulling shows for a set.

Kathy, I wonder if OTree did a set years and years ago (you probably remember that distro group!). I had a lot of their stuff; unfortunately I ditched all my CDs about 5 years ago so all the material I had when I got into the hobby is gone.

Ryan,

I'll see if I can dig out my CDs and see what I have, if the CDs are good.  I'd gotten them from a different group than Otree but don't recall which one.  My dad was still living at the time, and remembered the show from his youth, so I went looking for them.

I'll let you know if I find anything useful.

Ryan,

Looks like I have about 68 of the Life of Luigi shows. They appear to be from otr cat.  The file sizes are small and the sound on them is mostly poor, so I don't think these Luigi shows will be of the quality we'd like for an OTRR set.

I'm attaching a list of the shows included on my CD, just in case some might be useful, but I doubt it.

A quick way to get to listen to a good variety of shows is via the otrr library site (http://www.otrrlibrary.org/ ). Start there. You can sample a lot of different shows to see what you like best.

I think downloading from the site is generally one at a time.. not sure if you can download a whole folder or not from there. Others in the group will know.

There's also the OTRR home page at archive.org (https://archive.org/details/OTRR_Home_Page) and you can download series and single episodes from there.  There's should be plenty to keep you in OTR heaven for a very long time!

Depending on what your preferences are, ie: detective, news, soap operas, science fiction, etc... members of the group can make suggestions of shows they think you'd most enjoy.

Happy Listening,

Kathy

If you want a lot of easy to access shows, I would suggest going to archive.org and searching for OTRR to see all the series that have been posted there. You can download them in bulk very easily, save them, and later on, unzip and listen at your leisure.

Our library at www.otrrlibrary.org also has far more to choose from and listen to than would be possible in a lifetime. Note that programs there have not necessarily been vetted, at least to the extent that our sets on Archive.org have been. So there are mislabeled programs in there. Still, the variety of shows to explore and choose from is virtually limitless.

If you just want to listen to old radio shows without having to download, you can visit OTRR's own HOTROD (Handy Old Time Radio on Demand) site:

At the OTRR library it is very easy to download an entire page of MP3's (or other file type.  All you need is to have the "Firefox" browser on your computer, then install the "Down Them All" add-on.  Set it up to recognize audio files, when you are on a web page with direct links to MP3 files right click and select down-them-all. It'll add them to a 2nd window where you can select the actual files you want, anything from 1 file to all of them.  I've done it that way for years.

Now, it WON'T work for file storage sites that go through a second html page to get the file you want. . .

In fact, you can add an entire page of MP3's, let's say "The Lone Ranger", then go to another program (maybe "Sam Spade?) and add those files, and so forth.
