The Suspense Project: Two Sharp Knives
Joe Webb
Two Sharp Knives, written by Dashiell Hammett and adapted by John Dickson Carr, is today's Suspense episode.
As part of the new star strategy, the production features Stu Erwin who played comedic roles on stage, radio, movies, and later on television. William Spier, the producer of Suspense, would later get the rights to the Hammett character Sam Spade for his own production company. Two Sharp Knives would be produced on Suspense again in 1945, but Spier would also have it adapted for the Spade series. The story was used in a special and extra amusing manner on the Spade show. Unfortunately, that episode has never been found. Details are in today's blogpost. Enjoy!
